Nothing
I didn’t stay there. They wouldn’t let me. They are RACIST. They told me they would REFUND my money.
Low price, simple, bathroom down the hall
Inexpensive, great location, free all-you-can-drink coffee machine with good lattes, helpful front door staff, easy come and go, sink in bedroom
A bit shabby, lamp was brocken, carpet old, bathroom and shower down the hall and had to bring key card to not get locked out of room.
Affordable, good location
Affordable, proximity to Haight-Ashbury and Alamo Park. Our room had a great view of the city.
Noise was definitely an issue, no sound protection from neighbouring rooms - the people in the room next to us were talking throughout the night (until 6am!!) and kept us awake All night
No air circulation in the room.
The location is decent.
We had no a.c. in the room even though the front desk confirmed there was central air. Also our ceiling fan did not work. The downstairs gave us a small desk fan which didn't help much. When we told them about our issue they said again there is central air. I told them the vents are open but nothing is coming out. They said they'd be up to check but never came and did nothing. I gave up. The Windows could be open but they do not open up directly outside to where air can circulate. It was cooler out in the hall than our room. I was disappointed.
very kind staff
staff were incredibly helpful and surprisingly flexible. i had a few issues with my schedule that were completely my fault and they were more than accommodating. coffee was great, rooms were modest , prices were fare. i would certainly stay again.
front side rooms get a lot of street noise, but that's hardly a fault for being in such a large city
Great location and that's about the only plus. I'm not sure the room my boyfriend and I stayed in had ever been cleaned. The sink was clogged with someone else's hair and I ended up using their towels to dust the room myself.
A Hidden Gem
The staff were all great ...... very helpful. The location is excellent. Away from the tourist area but within walking distance to tourist spots. A very nice residential area...close to many restaurants and cafes . It reminded me of many European hotels. If you like to,walk, this is the place for you
Outside road noise on Fillmore St. started early in the day. However after a couple of days we hardly noticed it.
Review from a group of 4 people:
I really loved how modern/chic-ish it looked. The room sizing was decent, if it's just you and one other person. That was what I intended when I booked my room. The maids are really nice and considerate. The free coffee/hot drink maker downstairs made the best early morning coffee! The manager was really nice, asked if I needed directions. The towels provided were really nice, helped dry us off really fast. Location is wonderful, literally a few blocks from the Painted Ladies and Alamo Square! The neighborhood it's in is also very beautiful if you like Queen Victorian Homes.
-The "shared bathroom" had rusty shampoo/conditioner hangers in the shower. -The sink in the bathroom was blocky and was just in the way. Really out of place. -There was a small stain on our bed sheets. -Room is stuffy. No A/C. -Walls are a little thin, especially if you have the windows open. -The window opens into this huge open center of the hotel, virtually everyone has their windows open as well, so the noise privacy was virtually non-existent. -You can see people in their rooms if your window is open. Particularly bad because of nudity. -The workers there are very strict and a little over-bearing. It was as if we couldn't have visitors just coming to our room. -Room is really small if you have more than two adults.
cute, oringal quick get away.
It was comfortable, had a window view looking out towards Fillmore street. Cable kinda sucked but who cares, explore San Fran. Everything was walking distances, should try stacks its like half a mile away from the hotel. Affordable, but remember its a Mom and Pop kinda hotel not the best but you get what you paid! Awesome coffee machine they had, its 10x it's size and less simple than a keruge. We lobed our stay at Casa Loma.
The beds creeked, sink was in our room, whites sheets were rough. Towels are rough, toiletries are mounted on the wall in the room in a container, overall simple and self explanatory, me and the boyfriend did't really need to call any type of room service. Friendly people and we made a lot of noise in the day no one seemed to complain or had a fuss about the love making we were making haha, so yeah Casa Loma was cute not to much to complain about. BTW WiFi sucked.
great coffee
If you're a traveler on a budget and you're more concerned about the sights and sounds, this hotel is for you.
Bring slippers if you don't like dank bathroom floors. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The ventilation isn't good. The walls are thin too, so you probably shouldn't have sex here. Just saying.
A great stay for the 2nd time
This was my second time staying here and the experience was even better than the first. We got an outside facing room with an excellent view of the city (wish I could upload a pic). Clean rooms and facilities.
Pretty simple, shared bathrooms and such, but you still get more than you pay for.
Not terrible
Good price, decent location
Shared bathroom, dirty carpets, stains on floor/lampshade
Very good value for money. Rooms and (shared) bathroom were clean. Bus stops en restaurants are close.
Although it didn't bother us, in the rooms at the street side of the hotel there is a lot of traffic noise . 3 floors and no elevator could be a problem for some people.
Casa Loma is clean, safe, priced right & centrally located for us. Off the main tourist path but centrally located and still easily accessible for cabs, buses, tours, etc. We dealt with 3 staff members and all were extremely helpful and very pleasant to deal with. We will absolutely stay here again.
Not a complaint just a fact: San Francisco streets are very noisy and traffic noise is very loud in a lot buildings throughout SF not just in our hotel. No complaints from about Casa Loma. We got more than we expected and this was quite pleasant!
location near local bus
noisy, but is in the city. no maid service, had to ask for sheets and towels after more than a week.
Excellent location, walking distance to Upper Haight, Yoshi's, The Fillmore, Boom Boom Room. Clean, cozy and modern.
Finding parking can be tricky.
Friendly, helpful staff. Pleasant rooms - simple but very comfortable. Clean bathrooms and showers available. This is not a place with lots of frills, but it had everything I needed. I wish there were places like this all over.
Casa Loma is a great value for the money. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are kept very clean and the location is great.
clean room, clean shared bathrooms, very kind staff, good location with conections to the downtown...you get to see real SF. definitely recommandable!
there is no free wifi
The hotel has a very European feel. Most guests in fact, appeared to be from Europe, only adding to the experience. The room was clean; everything (except the building) was brand new. I chose a room without a TV. The simplicity of the place was very appealing.
Lobby is very bare and uninviting, and gives a false impression as to the condition of the rest of the hotel. It's a work in progress, I think.
Location is great and the best value for money - room is large and furniture is all new.
good location, very clean common bathrooms and rooms, great view for some rooms. Good staff very friendly
Common kitchen maybe, but being improved as new hotel in this businness, so not really a problem
